The great food, entertainment and welcoming hosts have contributed in making the Highland Fryer in Shelly Beach a popular eatery loved by locals.
Not only will the affordable, hearty meals hit the spot, but you can also sing along when the karaoke starts, which will make for a few good laughs.
Diners can enjoy the restaurant’s famous fish and chips or steak egg and chips, as well as something with an eastern flair in a lightly spiced chicken curry, served in a mini potjie and accompanied by a crispy papadum, rice and sambals.
Firm favourites are the juicy eisbein with crispy crackling and a whole baby chicken (peri-peri or lemon and herb) served with a choice of chips, vegetables cooked in a cream sauce or a side salad.
For a feast at a small fee, the Sunday roast is hugely popular starting at only R69 for three courses.
Seafood lovers can choose from fresh fish, grilled or scampi prawns, fried calamari and mussels in a garlic cream sauce.
On a Friday evening the bar area is alive with music, which floats into the dining area adding to the already fantastic atmosphere.
Everything on the menu is fairly priced and you can fill your belly without burning a hole in your pocket.
