Stonecroft gets a caffeine boost

Women found out that coffee is one of the most popular drinks in the world.

THE topic at Stonecroft Ministries’ last meeting at the Port Shepstone Country Club was coffee, the different varieties, tastes and its manufacturing process.

Women found out that coffee is a brewed drink prepared from roasted coffee beans, which are the seeds of ‘berries’ from the coffee plant. Coffee plants are cultivated in over 70 countries, primarily in the equatorial regions of the Americas, south east Asia, India and Africa.

Coffee is slightly acidic and can have a stimulating effect on humans because of its caffeine content. It is one of the most popular drinks in the world. It can be prepared and presented in a variety of ways. The effect of coffee on human health has been a subject of many studies.

However, results have varied in terms of coffee’s relative benefit. The majority of recent research suggests that moderate coffee consumption is benign or mildly beneficial in healthy adults.

Popular local musician Andre Louw performed musical items while Reverend Clem Goetsch gave insight on his experience in the 1940s during his six years in the army, of which three years were spent as a prisoner of war in Italy and Gestapo camps in Germany.
