Coffee fuels September car run
The threat of rain didn't keep the Sports and Specials at home.
A GOOD turnout of interesting cars, including a number of sporty topless models, ignored the gathering clouds to take part in the September Sports and Specials run.
Fortunately the clouds dispersed as the cavalcade of eye-catching vehicles, old and new cruised through Margate and along the beachfront. The Sports and Specials then roared off towards Port Edward where the car enthusiasts enjoyed a leisurely and sociable breakfast – and lots of coffee – at Beaver Creek.
A newcomer to the group, an immaculate 1991 Honda CRX, drew plenty of attention. Its proud owner, Marc Lee, had polished it to perfection for its Sports and Specials breakfast run debut and was proud to introduce it to the group.
Clive Thompson, a keen sports car enthusiast and collector, dusted off his zippy Caterham 7 and took it for a spin. This eye-catching classic turned quite a few heads on Sunday, as did a number of other automotive beauties on the run.
Sports and Specials is an informal group of petrol heads who meet to take their classic or contemporary sports cars and other interesting vehicles for a breakfast run once a month. Anyone is welcome to join them. Contact Bill at 084 4110044 for details.
