Celebrations enjoyed at Mbango
Mbango Valley celebrated Older Persons' Week with a number of functions for both its members and the community as a whole.
MBANGO Association held an exciting celebration to mark Older Persons’ Week recently.
The week is observed internationally from September 30 until October 6, with October 1 designated by the United Nations as International Day of Older Persons.
There were fun and exciting events for all. Some included indoor bowling, a birthday party, Zumba Gold theme party and croquet. There was also a special lunch for association members.
Mbango’s Melody Makers presented ‘The Cotton Club‘, a musical programme, at the Mbango hall. A matinee performance was held on Thursday and the nightclub performance, complete with dance floor, was held on Friday.
The Mbango Older Persons’ Week mixed trips bowling competition, sponsored by Suzuki, was held on Monday this week.
Organiser of the event, Karin Lehmann said during the week they looked at the challenges older people are faced with. “Mbango celebrated the event with a number of functions both for our members and the community as a whole,” she said.
