Wine tasting and lovely music at Riverbend
Wonderful wine and a talented guitarist formed a winning recipe.
RIVERBEND hosted a classics evening featuring guitarist James Grace, preceded by wine tasting last Friday.
As always, it turned out to be a sparkling evening. By adding wonderful music, meticulous attention to detail, perfect weather and a fabulous party atmosphere, the organisers came up with a winning recipe.
James Grace is a South African and one of the leading concert artists in the country. He studied in London at the Royal College of Music as a foundation scholar with Carlos Bonell.
Upon graduation he became the first guitarist in the history of the college to receive the annual award presented to the most outstanding student. He then spent two years teaching at the International Music Centre in Doha, Qatar.
On returning to South Africa, he was appointed head of classical guitar studies at the University of Cape Town. He maintains a full time performing and teaching schedule and has released a four CD album under his Stringwise label, with a recent one reaching number one in the Classic FM Top 20.
His performing schedule includes the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Kirstenbosch Summer Series and presenting the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra with fellow-guitarist Jonathan Crossley.
