Gospel singer Piet Smit entertains
He wanted a full-time singing ministry and God granted him his wish.
THE cheerful Afrikaans gospel singer Piet Smit needs no introduction.
His numerous gospel albums have touched the hearts of many and filled thousands of homes with passion for the Lord. People gathered at TO Strand last Sunday to see this renowned singer perform.
For years, Piet Smit wanted a full-time singing ministry. In May 1984 the Lord gave him the go-ahead, confirming it with Scripture. He closed his business immediately and has been in a full-time music ministry ever since, relying on God for everything.
His ministry is to tell people about the intimate, personal relationship that God wants with every individual.
“It means nothing if one preaches theory only – one has to live a life of practical faith and bear the fruit that goes with a changed life. I often stumble, but that is nevertheless what I strive for. I want to stop talking the walk and begin walking the talk!”
His production ‘Heer U maak my Nuut’ made history when it achieved platinum status. It was the first Christian album by a full-time Afrikaans Christian artist to be recognised in that way.
He may be regarded as a music guru, with the perfect pitch, but this famous singer has his feet firmly on the ground!
