Restaurant of the Week: Highland Fryer is always abuzz
You can fill your belly without burning a hole in your pocket.
THERE’S something for everyone at this Scottish themed restaurant where everyone is welcome.
The great food, live entertainment and welcoming hosts have contributed to making the Highland Fryer in Shelly Beach a popular eatery loved by locals.
Diners can enjoy the restaurant’s famous fish and chips or steak, egg and chips, as well as something with an Eastern flair – a lightly spiced chicken curry, served in a mini potjie along with a crispy papadum, rice and sambals.
One of the firm favourites is the juicy eisbein with crispy crackling, served with your choice of chips, vegetables cooked in a cream sauce or a side salad. Or why not try the mouth-watering oxtail potjie.
For a feast at a small fee, the Sunday roast is hugely popular starting at only R74 for this three-course meal.
Seafood lovers can choose from fresh fish, grilled or scampi prawns, fried calamari and mussels in a garlic cream sauce.
On a Friday evening the bar area is alive with music, which floats into the dining area adding to the already fantastic atmosphere.
Everything on the menu is fairly priced and you can fill your belly without burning a hole in your pocket.
The Highland Fryer is open from Monday to Saturday, 10am till 9pm and Sunday, 10am till 5pm.
