Restaurant of the Week: La Capannina

"My signature dish is my attitude" - Barbara Colonna, La Capannina

OVER the last 25 years, La Capannina has maintained a fine reputation for serving classic Italian cuisine.

Owner and chef, Barbara Colonna, picks fresh herbs from her garden and uses only seasonal produce.

The menu offers something for every taste, including delicious pastas, traditional pizzas cooked in a wood-fired oven and succulent meat dishes.

The seafood pasta in wine and tomato sauce comes highly recommended. Other popular dishes include cannelloni di magro, which is pasta tubes filled with ricotta cheese and spinach and grilled with mozzarella sauce, agnello Siciliana, a roasted lamb shank in a tomato and wine sauce, or the scaloppini di maiale ai funghi, pork fillet slices simmered in a fresh cream mushroom sauce.

Patrons can either dine alfresco on the deck with a magnificent ocean view, or choose a table in the cosy indoor dining area.

This homely eatery is fully licensed and has an extensive wine list and well-stocked bar.

True culinary delights, large portions and friendly hospitality make this Italian restaurant in Ramsgate an all-time favourite.

Open from Tuesdays to Saturdays: lunch from noon to 2pm and dinner from 6 pm.

Reserve your table by calling 039 3171078.
