Restaurant of the Week: The Lobster Pot
Service excellence and top-notch food keep diners coming back for more.
ESTABLISHED 50 years ago, the Lobster Pot in Ramsgate has become an iconic landmark for locals and visitors alike.
Hosts and owners Trevor and Jean Marnewick value service excellence and this has kept them on top of the game since they took over some 21 years ago.
Although perhaps best known for its delicious seafood, this restaurant has a diverse menu including steak, chicken, ribs, pasta and spicy curries.
The fresh oysters and peri peri chicken livers are popular starters, while the restaurant’s signature dish, the lobster thermidor – enveloped in a cream, mushroom and brandy sauce – is a special treat.
The lobster platter, which includes baby lobster, large prawns, line fish and calamari, served with lemon butter, garlic butter or peri peri sauce is also a winner.
And why not spoil yourself with the three-course weekday lunch, or give yourself a Sunday off and book for the delicious four-course Sunday lunch special.
There is a varied wine list to suit all tastes.
The Lobster Pot caters for family and corporate functions and will be open for lunch on Christmas Day.
The eatery is open Tuesday to Friday from 11.30am to 2.30pm and in the evenings from 5.30pm. On Saturdays, doors open at 5.30pm and on Sundays from 11.30am to 2.30pm and again from 5.30pm. Bookings are advisable at 039 3149809.
