Toya Delazy announced as the new Powerpuff girl

The South African musician has been called a ‘perfect fit’ for the role of the new Powerpuff Girl, who makes her appearance later this month.

POPULAR Cartoon Network series The Powerpuff Girls announced yesterday that there will be a fourth Powerpuff Girl to join Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup in their quest to protect earth and entertain kids.

The Citizen reported that the character doesn’t have a name yet, it’s rumoured that the new character will be purple-themed.  Toya Delazy is the first black Powerpuff Girl to join the team. This was announced in anticipation of the upcoming five-part ‘Power of Four’ mini-movie. The premiere will air on September 17.

New Musical Expression (NME) reports that Jamie Ondarza, senior vice-president at Turner Broadcasting in Southern Europe and Africa, stated:

“Toya is definitely a perfect fit as the fourth Powerpuff Girl. She is confident, bubbly and quirky, all the values that we are familiar with, love and appreciate. We have a lot of surprises up our sleeves.”
