Sometimes 'fishing' is not just an enjoyable hobby and can lead to trouble.
FOR THOSE of you unfamiliar with the term ‘catfish’, it basically refers to a fictional online persona luring someone into a relationship.
‘Catfishing’ mainly occurs on social media such as Facebook, as well on dating sites.
Most often, the ‘catfish’ will pretend to be someone they’re not by stealing other people’s online photos and posting them as their own, backing up their fake identity created.
‘Catfish’ actually catfish people for their own selfish benefit, either getting their self confidence boosted by the attention the fake identities receive, getting money from the person being deceived, or it may all just be a game to some.
The term became popular after MTV’s Catfish the TV series.
