What exactly is Blue Monday … and does it have anything to do with the moon?
Not to be confused with 'Manic Monday' is the term 'Blue Monday'. Here's why.
ROUGH weekend… feeling a lot sleepy, and now it’s Monday and you have to go to work.
Those aren’t really the reasons for the name Blue Monday.
Instead, Blue Monday is a name given to a day in January (typically the third Monday of the month) claimed to be the most depressing day of the year.
It doesn’t have much to do with Manic Monday or even Blue Moon.

The concept was first publicised as part of a 2005 press release from holiday company Sky Travel, which claimed to have calculated the date using an equation.
(Part of the alleged research was to establish patterns in how and when people booked and took holidays).
The idea is considered pseudoscience, with its formula derided by scientists as nonsensical.
