Bandage busters: 4 Ways to remove sticking plasters (almost) painlessly

Got a boo-boo? Plaster made it all better? Yes - until you have to peel it off, that is.

Here are a couple of tips, as provided by The Doctor’s Book of Home Remedies,  to help you remove adhesive bandages or sticking plasters with a minimum of fuss:

  • Use a tiny pair of scissors to separate the gauze part of the plaster from the sticky strips. Gently remove the gauze before peeling away the adhesive sections.
  • If your scab is stuck to the gauze, soak the area in a mixture of warm water and salt – be patient, it will eventually come unstuck.
  • If the plaster is on a hairy part of your body, pull it in the direction of the hair growth.
  • Use a cotton bud soaked in baby oil or surgical spirit the moisten the sticky strips before pulling them off.
