5 Fantastical animal ‘facts’ we bet you thought were true

Some popular myths - busted!

Most of us grew up with folk wisdom which we accepted unconditionally, but what if we told you that some of that is balderdash?

Take a look at these examples:

  • Leaving Lego lying on the floor of your bedroom would be like a red rag to a bull for most mothers, but did you know bulls are in fact colour blind?
  • Likewise, the saying ‘as blind as a bat’ doesn’t mean you can’t see because although bats don’t navigate by sight, they CAN in fact see.

  • Cats, contrary to what some may believe, certainly do not have nine lives. Like us, they only get one shot at it.
  • An earthworm cut in half will not carry on living as two separate worms – the half without the mouth will die.
  • You can’t get warts from handling a frog or toad. Warts are caused by a virus.
