5 Ways to fight flatulence and avoid embarrassing ‘slips’

After all, you can't ALWAYS blame the dog!

There can be few things as awkward as letting one rip accidentally,  especially when you’re in company.

The Doctor’s Book of Home Remedies shares these ideas on how to minimise the risk:

  • Avoid or reduce the consumption of dairy products
  • Avoid eating ‘windy’ foods such as cabbage, broccoli, onions and cauliflower
  • Beware of fibre, as some high-fibre fruits and veggies may increase gas
  • Some studies have shown that charcoal tablets  may help absorb excess wind
  • Try an over the counter remedy – ask your pharmacist to recommend a product

Bonus tip:

If love dried beans, but not the gas associated with eating them,  try soaking them in water first. One study showed that soaking them for 30 minutes and then pressure cooking them is a great way to reduce their propensity to created flatulence.
