These 3 symptoms could mean you may have gallstones

The traditional risk factors are often described as the sufferer being 'fair, fat, forty, flatulent and female'.

According to the book, Alternative Home Remedies, around one million Americans are diagnosed with gallstones each year.

Many times, the condition may be asymptomatic, and you won’t even know they are there.

However, says the book, if you experience the following, you need to see a doctor:

  • A steady, severe pain on your right side under your ribs
  • Pain between the shoulder blades or under the right shoulder
  • The above, accompanied by nausea and/or vomiting

To help reduce your risk of developing this often-painful problem, try the following:

  • Reduce consumption of saturated fat and sugar
  • Increase fibre intake
  • Add omega-3 fatty acids to your diet
  • Drink more water
