1 Possible sign that you could be pre-diabetic

Health practiotioners and dieticians will tell you that lifestyle changes (including proper exercise and healthy eating) can make a significant difference.

Worried you may be pre-diabetic? Technically, the term is ‘impaired glucose tolerance’ and is the stage before developing type 2 diabetes which is a whole lot more serious.

According to Mayo Clinic, pre-diabetes means that your blood sugar level is higher than normal but not yet high enough to be type 2 diabetes.

The good news is that a progression from pre-diabetes to type 2 diabetes is not necessarily a foregone conclusion.

And it’s also not too late to do something about it.

Health practitioners and dieticians will tell you that lifestyle changes (including proper exercise and healthy eating) can make a significant difference.

Losing some weight and drinking plenty water is always recommended.

The ‘bad’ news is that, generally, pre-diabetes does not have any symptoms.

However, according to Mayo, “one possible sign that you may be at risk of type 2 diabetes is darkened skin on certain parts of the body. Affected areas can include the neck, armpits, elbows, knees and knuckles.”

If you’re reading this you may already know some of the signs of diabetes: constantly being thirsty and being unable to quench that thirst; usually being super-tired all the time; blurred or fuzzy vision; and needing to go to the toilet way too often.

If this is you, it’s probably best to seek medical help sooner rather than later.
