Turning water into wine might just be possible after all

We've all joked about being able to turn water into wine or having a friend who can, but seriously - just add water or sprinkle on food and you’ll have an instant buzz!

The US Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) has approved powdered or dry alcohol for use.

When mixed with water, alcohol (also known as ethanol) in powder form – becomes tipple. Powdered alcohol products were approved by the TTB in 2015, but the product remains controversial due to public-health and other concerns.

Researchers have expressed concern about an increase in alcohol misuse and abuse.

The product was created by Mark Phillips after he went on a long hike and wanted to curl up next to campfire and enjoy a refreshing cocktail. Only problem was he couldn’t fit a bulky bottle of booze in his backpack.

One package of the product weighs about 28.5g and fits in a pocket. Each packet contains 10 to 12% alcohol by volume, which roughly equals one drink.

One excited prospective customer asked “Can I snort it?” The answer is: NO! You would feel a lot of pain for very little gain.

Would you buy powdered alcohol if it was approved in South Africa?
