How to keep bread fresher for longer
Remember that you should always freeze rather than refrigerate bread because the fridge temperature actually makes it go stale faster.
Foodie website Gourmandize.com has these tips to offer:
Two bags
Place bread in a brown paper bag and then into a plastic bag. The paper bag will absorb moisture, while the plastic bag limits exposure to the air, thus preventing it from drying out and going stale. Keep in mind that plastic tends to ‘sweat’, especially in humid environments, which speeds up mould.

Two days
You should never store bread at room temperature for longer than two days and if the room is humid, there’s a higher chance the bread will form mould.
No direct rays
The best place to store bread is in a cool, dry place. Sunlight will heat the bread and make it go bad much quicker.

Freeze it
Freezing is excellent for sliced bread. After using the bread while it’s still fresh, store the rest in the freezer. You can then thaw the exact amount of slices in a toaster whenever you want.

Size matters
In general, larger loaves with a denser consistency keep longer (think ‘rustic’ like pumpernickel or sourdough breads).

Dampened
Lightly dampen a clean cloth with water and wrap firmly around the bread. This will prevent bread from losing too much moisture.
Resurrection
Put a couple stalks of celery with stale bread in an airtight ‘Ziploc’ bag and let it sit for a couple hours before opening. The moisture from the celery will revive the bread (without leaving an overpowering flavour) and make it good to eat again!
