Best known by his stage name, The Weeknd, and of course for his crazy hair at first, Abel is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer.
The Weeknd released several songs on YouTube in 2010 under this stage name and that’s when he became recognised.
He then released three mixtapes in the duration of the year 2011 being – House of Balloons, Thursday and Echoes of Silence.
His compilation album Trilogy was then released in 2012, and contained the original mixtapes with a few additional songs. In order to release this album, he went through Republic Records and his own label, XO.
The album Kiss Land was made in 2013 with singles “Kiss Land” and “Live For”. Then Beauty Behind the Madness was made and became The Weeknd’s first number-one album on the US Billboard 200. His hottest songs were “The Hills” and “Can’t Feel My Face”.

According to Wikipedia, the songs have simultaneously held the top three spots on the Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart, making him the first artist in history to achieve this.
His song ‘Earned it’ was featured in the movie Fifty Shades of Grey, which got him nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
Later in 2016, he released his third studio album Starboy with the self-entitled single which made number one on Billboard’s Hot 100.
