The painting of the bridge just before the car park in Umzumbe was the idea of Trish Wood who also heads up ‘Umzumbe Greenfingers,’ a group of committed ladies who have taken on the responsibility of beautifying Umzumbe from the gardening perspective and also other projects to enhance the aesthetics of their village.

Well-known artist, Grant Wood said his wife, Trish engaged the services of a local artist, Jeffrey, who specialises in mural artwork and the result is a lovely mural on both sides as you cross the bridge over the railway line before you enter the main beach car park.

Grant is a renown for his watercolor art throughout South Africa and internationally, having sold many paintings as far afield as the United States. Trish is also a talented artist, who does fantastic oil paintings.

She kept the theme to beach scenes which sets the tone for the Blue Flag beach experience you would come to expect from a village atmosphere.
