Eggs: white versus brown – which is better?

Do you opt for white eggs as opposed to brown because you think one is healthier than the other?

YOU probably grew up eating them all your life. Sometimes they’re brown and sometimes they’re white.

We’re talking about eggs.

You buy them every day but very few people actually know that the colour of the shell comes down to the genetic structure of chickens.

But which do you prefer to buy?

Do you opt for white eggs as opposed to brown because you think one is healthier than the other?

The fact is  the nutritional value is actually the same for both.

The colour of the egg is a direct result of the breed of chicken.

White-feathered chickens lay white eggs and darker-feathered chickens lay brown eggs. There are some breeds of chicken which lay less commonly found eggs that can be blue or even speckled?

The thickness of the shells does not differ between white and brown.

Although, depending on the type of feed the chickens are given, even the colour of the yolk may differ.

Younger chickens also tend to lay eggs with a tougher exterior.
