Marvel comic legend Stan Lee, dead at 95
Tributes for the legendary Lee have been pouring in worldwide.
READING or watching a Marvel associated comic or movie will now never be the same following the death of publisher, editor and writer, Stan Lee, who died early Monday morning at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles.
Lee was famously known for bringing Marvel back to life after re-targeting the Marvel audience so that it would appeal to a younger audience with an advanced dialogue.
Stanley Martin Lieber, as he was known officially, wrote under the pen name Stan Lee.
On August 31, 2009, The Walt Disney Company announced a deal to acquire Marvel Entertainment for $4.24 billion, with Marvel shareholders to receive $30 and approximately 0.745 Disney shares for each share of Marvel they own. The voting occurred on December 31, 2009 and the merger was approved.
Stan Lee had an estimated networth of some $50-million as of 2018 and had retired from his career as a comic book writer.
Lee was further made famous for his short cameos in Marvel films, often pictured in scenes blurting out rhetorical lines.
According to an Instagram post published by IGN, co-director for the upcoming Marvel film, Avengers 4 (yet to be titled), Justin Russo has confirmed that Lee had already shot his cameo for the upcoming film.
Lee’s death was confirmed by his daughter’s attorney, Kirk Schenck.
