Scottburgh Athletic Club members tackled the Bluff Marathon at the Fynnlands Combined Sports Club last Sunday.
Distances included 42.2km, 21.1km and 15km.
The route was described as ‘hilly’, and athletes put in their best efforts on a sweltering day.
Results are as follows:
42.2km: Bryce Hatfield – 03:30:07 and Henry Mjanyelwa – 05:40:35.
21.2km: Lucky Zama – 02:31:14.
15km: Kirsty Moriarty – 01:28:44, Dana Daniels – 01:55:52 and Jennifer Parsons – 01:55:52.
At the KZN Athletics Championship held last weekend, Connor Smith received a gold medal in the boys’ U11 high jump, with a personal best of 1.45m.
Robert Webster achieved silver in the same event with a personal best of 1.35m. Both Robert and Connor have achieved automatic qualification for SA champs in Bloemfontein on December 7.
Zara Simpkins achieved silver in the girls’ U11 high jump with a height of 1.25m and is in contention for KZN team selection. She came fifth overall in the long jump.

Upcoming event:
Save the date for the Scottburgh Half Marathon and 10km event at Scottburgh Golf Club on January 12.
Entries are limited to 900 people, and there will be goodie bags and medals for all finishers. There will also be shirts for the first 700 entries.
There will be great cash prizes and hotel getaways up for grabs.
