Go down and join in celebrating National Women’s Day.

AMANZIMTOTI Golf Club reports that the Mkuhla team from South Coast Region Women’s Golf Association made merry on Sunday, 4 August to sweep the Midlands team aside in their quest to win the inter region championships.

The score after the betterball games of the morning round saw the two teams level-pegging, but the foursome prowess of the local women made them eventual winners by 10 points to the 6 from the upcountry visitors.

Well done to Toti’s very own Liz Donald who played in the Mkuhla team.

The plate division was won by Durban region Swifts teams from the Northern region Zulus 12/4.

Amanzimtoti Golf Club was extremely proud to have hosted this event, and by all indications everyone enjoyed their day, although it may not have been such a happy outing for the losing teams.

Many thanks must go to those spectators who came out in support of the teams.

The Amanzimtoti men’s league teams saw action this weekend, with varying results. The A side went down to Umhlali at Umhlali by a whopping 10/2.

The B side played MEGC at Bluff and narrowly missed completing a total whitewash of the opposition, finishing 11½ to ½ winners. Cecil Heydenrych and John van der Spuy played diplomats and allowed MEGC their solitary half point from their foursomes draw.

The Allerton side lost 8/4 against DCC, playing at Beachwood.

Overall points tallies: 17½ points for and 18½ against. Hopefully the league team’s next outings will prove more successful.
