21 Club enjoys winter wonderland
Only real snow falling outside could have improved the wintry illusion for the 72 members and guests who attended.

AT the July luncheon, members of 21 Club were greeted with a warming glass of sherry, an appropriate start to a special celebration of winter.
The black, white and shimmering silver décor was most effective.
Only real snow falling outside could have improved the wintry illusion for the 72 members and guests who attended.
The guest speaker was popular local Methodist minister, Peter Butterworth. Peter’s advertised topic was “Turkish Delight” and he did indeed chat briefly about his recent visit to Turkey. However, the bulk of his most entertaining talk consisted of memories of magical moments in the life of a minister, each story more amusing than the last. If laughter is the best medicine, then 21 Club must thank Peter for a healthy, delightful dose.
Welcome to three new members, Pat McCann, Wendy Share-Eales and Lyn Bass.
Special thanks to Jerry Gertzen of Orange River Cellars for sponsoring the sherry and to Lords and Legends’ Greg who managed to make yet another delicious pudding of chocolate brownies with clotted cream to please the palates.
The next luncheon will be on Wednesday, 28 August at Lords and Legends conference room at noon for 12.30pm. The club will celebrate women’s month. This will provide early Christmas shopping opportunities with several members setting up stalls. The speaker will be 21 Club member, Helen Skinner. Topic to be announced.
Members are reminded that confirmation of intention to attend or not, and names of guests, must be received by Lyn on 082-572-1328 or 031-903-4026 or Golda on 083 6336338 or 031 916 7001) no later than Friday, 23 August. Guests will be accommodated if there is room.
