Toti mixed martial artist, Nelson Feiteira has signed up to fight in Africa’s biggest sporting event, the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC).

The 25-year-old CombatCoaching.com fighter, who matriculated at Kingsway High School, recently won the (Megladon Fight Club) MFC amateur lightweight title at Sibaya Casino, and boasts an Africa Fight League (AFL) lightweight title under his belt.

“I have achieved my goals in the amateur ranks and decided to push forward and start achieving my other goals that I have set,” said Nelson, who has been fighting for four-and-a-half years as part of CombatCoaching.com’s Team MMA Fighter squad.

“I hope to be the best fighter I can be and hopefully a number one contender for the title.” Nelson is still awaiting his first draw, but is confident of showing his strengths. “I rate my chances as high. On the day it can go either way, just as long as I believe in myself, that’s all that counts.

I have upped my training regime and as yet I’m not too nervous about fighting on such a big stage, but I think that will come once I’m there and realise it’s actually happening.

I do get nervous before a fight, which I find is a good thing. I overcome it by believing in myself.”

Nelson’s signing follows another Combat Coaching.com fighter, Craig ‘Nemo’ Ninow who received the invite to contest EFC Africa’s bantamweight division earlier this year.

EFC Africa boasts over two million viewers, making it the largest sporting spectacle on the continent. The fights, staged at Carnival City in Johannesburg in front of 6,000 frenzied spectators, are televised live on eTV, NuMetro cinemas, online and broadcast to over 106 countries.
