Hospice heroes to swim Midmar again

A group of young men will once again swim the Midmar Mile in February to raise funds for Khanya Hospice.

Warren Keightley, Brad du Preez, Dillan Drew and Roan van der Westhuizen challenge other young people to join them in their effort. “Last year three of my closest friends and I got together and decided to swim the Midmar Mile in an effort to raise funds for Khanya Hospice,” said Dillan. “The response we got from the public and local media was unbelievable. People were really generous and we managed to raise over R14,500. This time we’re looking to surpass what we raised last year and give back even more to an organisation that constantly gives and expects nothing in return.”

Anyone wanting to sponsor them, make a donation, get the team’s autographs or a photo with them (at a price), can call Dillan on 082-529-355, email [email protected] or call Neil on 039-973-0277. Donations can be done via EFT or cash. Name of the account: Khanya Hospice (current account), Standard bank, branch: Scottburgh, branch code: 057627, account number: 052874060.

“Thank you so much for offering again to swim the Midmar Mile in February as a fundraising event for Khanya Hospice,” said CEO, Neil McDonald. “Your kindness is appreciated and it will help us in a great way.”

Hospice offers free palliative nursing care to people with life-threatening diseases and support to their families. People can donate anything that they don’t want – new or second-hand clothes, crockery, linen, furniture or bric-a-brac. Hospice will put those items up for sale in its shops to help sustain the free service that it offers. Contact Khanya Hospice on 039-973-0277/1783.
