Highland Gathering’s half century set for 3 May

IT'S all systems go for the 50th Highland Gathering at Hutchison Park in Toti on Saturday, 3 May which is organised and hosted by Amanzimtoti Lions Club.

Visitors are in for a treat this year, with one of the attractions being helicopter rides.

Budding beauty kings and queens also have the opportunity to strut their stuff in the main arena. There will be a Mr Gathering pageant for those 18 and over; a Mini Miss Gathering for one to six-year-olds and a Junior Miss Gathering for seven to 12-year-olds. Great prizes will be up for grabs.

“We are looking for genuine, handmade craft items for our craft market section which will be in a demarcated area on one field,” said event co-ordinator, Carol Botha. To book a craft stall contact Carol on 031-920-1929 (office hours only) or email botha.carol60@gmail.com

For all other stall queries and bookings, including food stalls, contact John West on 031-903-1484 or email john.d.k.west@gmail.com. Organisers are also looking for a variety of food stalls.

Food stall holders will not be allowed to sell cold-drinks or water as these items will be sold by Lions.

Organisers are also looking for a variety of demonstration classes for children and arena events. If you have an interesting event or skill contact Carol.

Over the years the Gathering has seen thousands of visitors flock to the area, which boosts Toti’s economy. Funds raised by Lions through the event are ploughed back into the community.
