Money pours in from charity car wash
Comrades runner still needs R,1950 to get into the charity seeding batch.
Toti motorists came out in full support of a charity car wash to help a Comrades Marathon runner raise funds for Community Chest.
Anthony Clapham, the great-great-grandson of Comrades Marathon founder, Vic Clapham will tackle this year’s down run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban to raise much-needed funds for the organisation. His first goal however, is to raise R5,000 to be included in a special seeding batch at the start of the world’s oldest and largest ultramarathon and to help him achieve that, Sparkling Auto car wash at Arbour Crossing donated 33% of its turnover on Sunday, 6 April.
“The car wash day was excellent. We had great support, despite the inclement weather. A total of 103 cars were washed, generating an income of R 2,058 for Community Chest. Thanks to Kamlesh and the team at Sparkling Auto Care Centre,” said Community Chest PRO, Fadeela Deedat.
“Thank you to everyone who supported. I still need about R,1950 more to reach R5,000 to get into the charity seeding batch,” said Anthony. The public can donate via Fadeela on 031-303-3890 or visit www.comrades.com/charities/race-4-charity.
