Due to apathy, a quorum was not present at the sector one police forum AGM on Thursday night, 24 April.
The meeting has now been postponed to Tuesday, 13 May at the SAPS satellite station at Galleria from 6pm.
A minimum of 15 members of the public (excluding committee members and police representatives) have to attend an AGM to form a quorum.
“It is with concern that we note that, even though complaints are many, when people need to stand up and be counted and give their time once a month and in this case, once a year, for an annual general meeting, they are absent,” said sector one vice-chairman, Lee Lewis.
“If you are waiting for something bad to happen before you become involved, then be aware you or one of your family might just be the next victim of crime.
To make our neighbourhoods safe and secure we all need to get involved. Simply paying a security company, the CCPO or waiting on the police is not being pro-active in fighting crime.
We urge the community to get involved, so a clear message can go out to all criminals and that is: “Move out of our neighbourhood or face the consequences”.”
Amanzimtoti sector two community forum holds its annual general meeting on Wednesday, 14 May at 6pm St Mary’s Church, Warner Beach. For more information, contact vice-chairman Lee Lewis on 082-890-4982.
