God’s “Little” Creatures – Common Diadem

Hello, today I would like to share this beautiful butterfly Species with you.

This species of butterfly is fairly common on the Bluff and surrounding areas.

When most folks see the male and female they would automatically think that they are two different species, because they look vastly different.

Butterflies 310314 (3) (Custom)

The male is black with white eye spots, and the female is orange with black and white tips to her wings. She is coloured this way for a purpose, so that she avoids becoming a birds lunch, as she looks like a rather distasteful and rather poisonous African Monarch Butterfly.

These butterflies are attracted to your garden by flowers.

God Bless
