MID-ILLOVO crime prevention unit and detectives arrested two men in connection with a murder in Umlazi in the early hours of Tuesday, 10 June.
“It is alleged that on Wednesday, 14 May, a security guard Mbokodo Nene (64) was on night duty at Mandlanyoka School in Mid-Illovo when he went missing. An intensive search was conducted by the police and community and Nene’s body was found on Monday, 19 May at a nearby stream, about 100 metres from the school. He had sustained multiple stab wounds and his hands were tied with a shoe lace,” said Col Jay Naicker of the KZN police media centre.
A case of murder was registered at Mid Illovo SAPS for investigation. The men, aged between 19 and 22-years-old, are expected to make their first court appearance in the Richmond Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 12 June.
Provincial police commissioner of KZN, Lt Genl Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the members for the speedy arrest.
