Arrests net 55 offenders

Sixteen people were arrested for shoplifting.

AMANZIMTOTI police recorded 55 arrests between 3 and 16 June.

According to the station’s communications officer, Capt Charlene van der Spuy, arrests were made for the following crimes:

Two people were arrested for murder; one for business robbery; eight for residential housebreaking; one for business housebreaking; one for house robbery; 16 for shoplifting and three for theft.

Three people were nabbed for malicious damage to property; one for fraud; four for drug-related crimes; four for drunk driving; one person for possession of an unlicensed firearm; one for reckless and negligent driving and one for using a vehicle in a restricted area.

One person was arrested for a traffic-related offence; three for property suspected to be stolen and four people were nabbed on warrants of arrests.
