Boulders thrown on cars in N2 hijacking bid

Motorists using the N2 near Higginson Highway have been warned about a brazen - and potentially deadly – method being perpetrated by hijackers in the vicinity.

The Rising Sun reports that a Chatsworth woman is counting her lucky stars after she almost fell victim to a hijacking along the N2 recently. While the motorist was travelling along the N2, nearing Higginson Highway, she heard a loud crash and felt something hit her car bonnet.

Despite the shock, she continued on until she found a safe place to stop and assess the damage.

The bonnet appeared to have been damaged by a large boulder, which is believed to have been thrown by supposed hijackers who were hoping to stop and hijack the vehicle. Fortunately, she was able to avoid becoming a victim.

Police warn drivers that criminals often use this method of hijacking to target their victims in a moment of weakness and confusion. They have urged motorists to be extra vigilant of their surroundings at all times.
