Women’s committee celebrates anniversary

KWC's Leading Lady for 2014 is Ingrid Roberts.

The Kamalinee Women’s Committee (KWC) celebrated its 10th anniversary on Wednesday, 10 September at Greyville Racecorse with a champagne brunch.

The KWC, based at Kamalinee Primary School, caters for underprivileged Lotus Park pupils and their parents, and each year it selects a woman who makes an outstanding contribution to the welfare of others as its Leading Lady for the year.

Past recipients include Grace Ngcongo, the founder of Silindokuhle Creche, and Operation Bobbi Bear founder, Jackie Branfield.

“Our Leading Lady for 2014 is Ingrid Roberts, who was presented with the bust of Queen Nefferetiti – an Egyptian icon,” said KWA chairman, Ranjini Rajoo.

“Sabera Paruk was also lauded for her sterling contributions to education with the Lotus Award.”
