Church plans outreach programmes

The church will sell pancakes at Mooihawens old age home.

The Hervormde Kerk in Toti plans a number of activities in the near future, as part of its outreach to the community and to boost membership.

The church has been part of another congregation on the Bluff for many years, but has recently celebrated four years as an independent congregation. It is situated at the Scouts hall at 7 Drake Road.

“On Thursday, 14 September we will reach out to the caravan park in Winkelspruit,” said interim pastor, Ds Chris Viljoen.

“We will take some bibles with us and we plan to make boerwors rolls for the residents and to spend time with them.

On Saturday, 20 September we will take Zulu bibles to Operation Bobbi Bear which cares for disadvantaged children.

On Sunday, 5 October we will reach out to a congregation in Inanda. Many of the people from this community do not even have any books in their homes, so we will take 100 Zulu and 20 Xhosa bibles with us.”

The church will also sell pancakes on Saturday, 1 November at Mooihawens old age home. “It is part of their annual carnival and we will sell the pancakes on their behalf. We will sponsor the pancakes and donate the funds to them. We hope the public comes and support us.”
