21 Club steps into Spring

Good wishes went to Golda Smyly for the Jewish New Year being celebrated on the day of the lunch.

CHEERFUL buckets of sunflowers and fresh fern fronds greeted the 21 Club members at their September luncheon themed 'Put a Spring in your step'.

The weather was kind and the yellow, green and orange Spring outfits heralded the approach of Summer.

The Lords and Legends menu was perfect for the day with Spring chicken and all the trimmings, followed by delicious lemon meringue.

The speaker was 21 Club member, Lynn Bass. She was born on Signal Hill in Cape Town but various events led to most of her life being spent in Zimbabwe.

Karate classes which she started with her son resulted in Lynn eventually achieving a third Dan black belt. No surprise, as she is a huge Bruce Lee fan. Lynn was honoured to coach the Zimbabwe national and children’s karate teams for two years.

She and her husband, Freddie, eventually ran a karate school which developed into a health studio. Soon afterwards, Lynn fulfilled her passion and qualified in various complementary therapies.

They moved to Toti in 2009. Lynn recently lost her husband and is in the process of putting her life back together, strengthened by passion for holistic therapies which she now practises from home.

Lynn is an ITEC and IIR qualified therapist and Ushi reiki master. Massages offered include aromatherapy: deep tissue, relaxing and Swedish massage, Indian head massage, reflexology treatments, Reiki healing treatments and Bowen body therapy. She also offers slimming and toning treatments.

Lynn’s wise words on how to put a spring in one’s step by putting the past behind and moving on in a positive way will be remembered. “Through the darkness there is light, we only have to look hard enough for it.”

The seven 21 Club birthday girls who were present each received a massage voucher as a gift from Lynn.

Sincere condolences were conveyed to Melanie Venske whose husband, Les died recently.

Dress in pink or just wear a touch of pink if you prefer, in honour of breast cancer awareness month. Speaker to be announced.
