Community theatre show takes to the stage

To raise money for charity.

AMANZIMTOTI Community Theatre (ACT) is staging its first show, ‘Tribute to Disney’ at Toti High School hall next week, to raise funds for charity.

The beneficiary for the Thursday, 16 October show is the South African Women’s Touch Rugby team and Amanzimtoti SPCA will benefit from the performances on Friday and Saturday, 17 and 18 October.

“The show focuses around Walt Disney’s animation movies and has singing and dancing scenes. It features songs from 12 of Disney’s greatest animations of all time, among them the Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Hercules,” said director, Mikhaila Wilson.

It has a strong cast of 40 community members who have given up their time to raise funds for charity. The youngest performer is six-years-old and oldest is 56. “The cast has been rehearsing hard to stage a spectacular show. ACT’s motto is ‘by the community for the community’. We are hoping it is the start of many ACT shows. Support from our community would be appreciated.”

Mikhaila, who is also Toti High School’s head of dramatic arts, has staged many sell-out performances including Disney’s the Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats.

The show starts at 7pm, doors open at 6.30pm. Take along food and drinks. Tables seat 10 people and a maximum of 12. There will be no entry once the show has started. Tickets are R100 per person.

South Coast Sun readers have an opportunity to buy tickets at a discounted price. The first 100 people to book and pay will get their tickets at R50 each. To claim this special offer, email Mikhaila at act.toti@gmail.com, write ‘Tickets South Coast Sun special’ in the subject line.
