BIKERS Against Drugs (BAD) who started a campaign to create awareness of the drug scourge engaged with pupils at Kuswag Skool on Tuesday, 28 October.
The organisation launched its campaign in August at Toti High School.
“Our focus is purely awareness, as there have been many incidents of underage substance abuse in Toti. We are not vigilantes, any information we acquire, we will pass on to the relevant authorities,” said Doc Holman of BAD.
He said bikers generally had a bad name. “Things are changing, we are not monsters, talk to us.”
Their goal is not only to take awareness to schools, but also churches and the wider community. They are working hand-in-hand with ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge. “People need to understand the dangers of drugs. It not only affects the person abusing it. I have been through it as a parent, it’s scary stuff.”
He urged pupils to be the ‘eyes and ears’ of the community. They can make anonymous tip-offs of drug-related activities at www.bikersagainstdrugs.co.za or WhatsApp to 073-486-7423. For more details visit the Facebook page – KZN bikers against drugs.
