Set up enquiry into top cops’ infighting

Before anyone is placed at the forefront of the battle against crime again, the truth needs to be established.

EDITOR – I have no doubt that General Booysens would be valuable in the fight against crime.

However, before he is put at the forefront of this battle, it would be good to find out how this situation came about.

If there was indeed a personal vendetta against him then it would be a story that is too common and a cause for concern. Currently, there is a national trend among high-ranking SAPS members, where they appear to be cannabilising each other while their backs are turned against the real issue of fighting crime. What appears more concerning is that others have accused General Booysen of the very tactics he cries foul about – some claim to have been set up and wrongfully persecuted by General Booysen. Is it a case of what goes around comes around, or have others used his name in vain to fight their own battles?

Before anyone is placed at the forefront of the battle against crime again, the truth needs to be established.

This will build the foundations of a solid crime fighter in which there will be total public confidence. The only way to achieve this is to call for a full commission of enquiry to establish how such a situation has developed.
