Bridge brigade urges locals to warm to visitors
By painting bridges and walls, it serves as a visual reminder that everyone needs to join in one vision.
Sapphire Coast Toti Tourism (SCTT) is on a drive to maintain Toti’s painted bridges in time for the festive season.
The project was first launched by SCTT in April 2011 to encourage positivity and bring economic growth to the Toti region.
By painting bridges and walls, it serves as a visual reminder that everyone needs to join in one vision, to promote and beautify the Toti area.
“Six bridges are being redone to welcome this December’s influx of holidaymakers to our region,” said SCTT chairman, Jacques van Schalkwyk.
The bridges include those in the vicinity of Athlone Park, Twini River, Adams Road, Little Toti River, Hutchison Road and Amanzimtoti High School.
On the bridges is the message ‘Sapphire Coast Toti Tourism welcomes you’.
“Athlone Park, Twini River and Adams Road are almost completed,” said Jacques.
“When we’ve done those, we will start on the Southgate/Moss Kolnick train bridge, Kingsway High School and one in Umkomaas.”
