UPDATE: Man drowns in Amanzimtoti

A man in his late thirties has tragically died after a drowning incident at Pipeline Pool on the beachfront in Amanzimtoti this afternoon.

A report from the scene indicates the man was swimming in the pool and for unknown reasons, he disappeared under the water. Lifeguards immediately pulled the man from the water and started CPR while medics from Netcare 911 and the provincial services responded.

Paramedics found lifeguards fervently working to try resuscitate the man, however after they examined him, it was found he had died. Toti police, who responded to the scene, will investigate the events leading up to the drowning.
