A PLASTIC box concealing a water meter was blown to pieces by an explosive device on a verge in Berrio Avenue in Illovo Glen on Tuesday, 13 January at about 10.15am.
“I was watching TV at the time and heard a loud bang which sounded a like a gunshot,” said Natalie Damons.
A neighbour also heard the commotion, but on investigation saw no-one lurking about. He alerted Natalie to the incident. She believes it could have been youngsters playing a prank.
Although the meter did not appear to be damaged, Natalie contacted eThekwini Municipality to notify them of the vandalism.
She warns other home owners to be on the look-out for anyone behaving suspiciously near their verges.
