FRIDAY, 27 MARCH: Amanzimtoti SPCA hosts a bingo evening at Amanzimtoti Bowling Club, with prizes to be won, at 6pm for 6.30pm. Players are encouraged to take a plate of snacks to share with their table. A cash bar will be available. Tickets are R10 per person and each sheet costs R5. A 50% deposit is required when booking a table. Email pro@spcatoti.co.za to book your table or call 031-904-2424/5. Donations of pet food are always welcome.

SATURDAY, 28 MARCH TO FRIDAY, 3 APRIL: Illovo Shree Maha Vishnu, Mareiamman and Kaliamman Alayams will host their 107th annual chariot festival. A Garuda Vaganum is at 3pm on Saturday, 28 March. On Tuesday, 31 March at 5pm there is a naga vaganum. On Friday, 3 April at 3pm, it is the Hanuman vaganum.

 

SUNDAY, 29 MARCH: The Wildlife Society hosts a walk through Umbogavango Nature Reserve starting at 8am. All nature lovers are welcome. The walk will take about two hours. Anyone interested should enter through the south gate of Umbogintwini Industrial Complex. Call Dick on 083-650-2578.

SATURDAY, 4 APRIL: The Illovo Shree Maha Vishnu, Mareiamman and Kaliamman Alayams 107th annual chariot festival hosts the Shreedevi Bumedevi Samathe Narayana Thiru kalyana Utsavam (wedding ceremony) at 7am. The chariot departs the temple for the grounds at 10am and will return to the temple from the grounds at 3pm.

 

THURSDAY, 9 APRIL: KZN branch of the South African Military History Society meets at 7pm for 7.30pm in the Murray Lecture theatre, Department of Civil Engineering, UKZN Howard College campus. The speakers will be Ken Gillings on ‘World War 1 comes to the Northern Cape’ and Charles Whiteing on ‘The Normandy Massacres’. SATURDAY, 18 APRIL: Jehovah’s Witnesses hold an assembly at Amanzimtoti Civic Centre. This semi-annual event attracts Witnesses and non-Witnesses from Scottburgh to the Bluff. The theme is ‘Keep seeking Jehovah’s righteousness,’ which is based on Matthew 6:33. Entry is free, and no collections will be taken. Everyone is welcome to attend.
