Lensman leads on the runway
Vernondo is the official photograher for Boss Model Johannesburg.
With the right focus and exposure, Toti photographer, Vernondo Boshoff is fast becoming a leading name in the fashion and modelling world.
The 39-year-old ex-Kuswag pupil only expressed an interest in photography three years ago. After a few classes with renowned lensman, Brett Florence in SA, Dubai and the UK, he contacted aspiring models in Johannesburg and offered to do their test shoots for free to gain experience.
Vernondo specialises in fashion and runway, fitness, event and corporate photography. Some of his clients on corporate photography include Tsogo Sun, Stuttafords, Price Waterhouse Cooper and Key Delta.
“I was born in Pretoria, but grew up in Upington.
Photography started as a hobby for me. After I shot Afrikaans artist, Andries Hendrik, he set the ball rolling and I started to move into a new world,” said Vernondo.
He was invited to photograph the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and SA Fashion Week in Johannesburg and has just returned from the prestigious Mr Gay World event in Knysna and Cape Town, where he was the official photographer.
Next in his lens is the Mercedes Benz African Fashion Festival in Ghana from 29 to 31 May.
He has also teamed up with African Network News, that will follow him around in Ghana and air a segment on Monday nights on his photography.
“My aim is to pair up model houses with designers and fashion houses. With my photography, it is all about the person and getting to know the model.
I prefer location shoots, although I also do studio work.”
Vernondo’s life has increased in pace recently, with most of the month spent in Johannesburg.
“My dream city to shoot in would be New York or Milan.
I would like to get to the point of my career where organisers contact me to shoot their fashion shows.”
Vernondo is also the official photograher for Boss Model Johannesburg and is currently scouting the next big thing for Top Model South Africa for next April’s competition, where the winner wins a trip to model in London.
At this year’s event, he was awarded the title of top photographer.
To enter, girls must be between the ages of 17 and 24-years-old, and boys between 18 and 28.
