Policeman shot dead at Mfume

AN Umlazi policeman, Capt Sithole was shot dead at his home in Mfume on Saturday, 30 May.

Toti SAPS responded to the incident at about 8.30pm on receiving a complaint.

“Sithole’s wife told them she had been busy in the kitchen when she heard a knock on the door. When she opened up, three men entered, asked for her husband, drew firearms and told her to be quiet,” said Toti SAPS communications officer, Capt Charlene van der Spuy.

“Two of the men went to her husband, who was in a rondavel. She heard a gunshot and him screaming. He sustained a fatal wound to the chest. The men fled in a blue vehicle, make and registration unknown, after taking a flat screen TV, laptop, cellphone and keys to the car.”
