25 injured in taxi collision

Firemen used the jaws of life to free the injured.

TWENTY-FIVE people were injured after two taxis collided along Saunders Avenue in Isipingo Hills on Wednesday, 12 August at about 5.20pm.

“Paramedics and the fire department found the road obstructed with accident debris and the twisted frames of the vehicles. Some of the injured were still trapped in the wreckages. After triaging, it was found 25 people sustained injuries ranging from serious to minor,” said Netcare 911 media liaison, Chris Botha.

“While firemen used the jaws of life to free the injured, medics worked tirelessly to stabilise them before they were transported to various hospitals for the care they required.”
The cause of the accident will be investigated by police.
