Roof sheets blown off hospital roof

Strong gusts of wind disrupt hospital ward extenion

Motorists on the N2 were concerned by the sight of roofing sheets lying along the fenceline of Kingsway Hospital this morning, Friday, 11 September.

Hospital manager, Annatjie Demetriou explained to the Sun that due to the unseasonal gusts of wind this morning, several sheets of roofing had blown off the roof of the hospital’s new ward, which is currently under construction.

A photo posted on social media showed the roof sheets lying across the perimeter fence of the hospital. Contractors were resolving the problem and had collected the sheets to ensure that the issue did not recur.

The new ward is due to be completed by the end of the year. Mrs Demetriou said there had been no injuries or damage as a result of the incident.
