Think of Hospice this December

Hospice does not get any government subsidy.

Khanya Hospice appeals for donations of unwanted goods ahead of the start of the festive season.

“If you are moving house, relocating or spring cleaning, our four shops are desperately looking for your donations of clothes, bric or brac, cutlery, crockery, linen, furniture, garden tools, garden furniture, sport and gym equipment or whatever you have to give away,” said Khanya Hospice CEO, Neil McDonald.

Hospice does not get any government subsidy and will put the donated items up for sale in one of its shops. Money generated by these shops help sustain the free palliative nursing care that Hospice offers and the free support to family of patients.

“Our nursing staff go into the rural areas and often have to walk kilometres, as there are no roads. We need to maintain our vehicles, as we cannot let our nursing staff get stuck.

Please think of Hospice if and when you clean and clear your cupboards, or move house and home or just scale down. We are able to collect if you cannot drop off unwanted goods,” said Neil.

Anyone wanting to make a donation to Hospice, can call 039-973-0277/1783 or email manager@khanyahospice.org.za.
